This trio is one force to be reckoned with. Comprised of Jake Carpenter, Louis Kha and Mikul Wing, Autograf hails from Chicago and the harsh winters are probably responsible for their mellow, warm tropical/future tunes. We aren’t complaining, are we? Their remixes are the best kind in the industry and Autograf is a name every real electronic music fan recognizes.
Autograf is innovative – a classic blend of art and music. Not only do they make music but also build their own instruments and art installations. Focusing on the journey just as much as the destination, Autograf makes each performance and production unique and special with their focused vision. When asked how the trio came about, Louis told Billboard
Autograf started out as an art project. Jake went to art school for sculpture and painting. Mikul did a lot of street art, had some galleries in Chicago, and was doing underground loft parties. At the time, I was a derivatives trader.
Otherwise shrouded in mystery, the past year has been a stellar one for Autograf. Their Soundcloud featured some fabulous remixes, including those of Lorde, Dirty South, The Griswolds and Stevie Wonder – there really are very few genres they haven’t worked their magic on. They also featured on numerous podcasts including UKF Music Podcast #63 and Bloes Brothers #35; they also share mixtapes regularly. Perhaps it is their ingenuity that helped them bag spots at numerous festivals, including the Hangout Music Fest and Northern Nights Music Festival in 2015. The trio recently released their first original track on Soundcloud and boy is it fabulous!
Like the trio states, “it’s about leaving your mark on the world. It’s about leaving your Autograf.” They sure are living up to their motto!
