The final day of winter season in Mumbai bought together the brightest and most beautiful people together in the city of Mumbai for the second installment of the By The Pier series. Conceptualized and curated by the talent scouts Regenerate, the iconic Sea-kissed festival brought the best in Techno, House and Progressive to the prestigious location of Radio Club Pier, one of the city’s most scenic and picturesque locations. Justifying all our 10 Reasons of being at By The Pier 2.0, the festival offered great music, scrumptious food and an infectious good vibe that seems to still resonate among most of us. Looking back at the festival, we highlight some of our and your favorite moments from By The Pier 2.0.
The Music
A lineup that boasted of phenomenal acts such as Blurry Slur (Qwiver’s deep house moniker), Chhab, Cyrus, Kaleekarma and Orbs & Zen on the main event and Troja and Audioglitch for the afterparty, the musical range of the night crossed spectums of Deep, Tech, Progressive and house. The main stage was headlined by none other than A Guy Called Gerald who bought an expected difference to the festival and city’s clubbing consciousness. Swerving up some chunky Techno anthems, A Guy Called Gerald certainly offered a curve ball performance compared to the festival’s other performers. With Regenerate promising to offer something unique and different every time, By The Pier 2.0 was no exception with Gerald spinning some of the slickest and darkest Techno artillery that open air and cool sea breezes could endow. After a last minute hiccup with respect to the venue, the after party was taken over by after hours specialists Whyt Noyz who offered a banging set that echoed through the echelons of peak time set performances in the city. Champions of their sound, the boys from Britain,absolutely belted the hapless audience with their sinister and deviant arsenal. A lineup this good, promised a night of countless memories and experiences.
The Venue
Undoubtedly, the ambiance and environment at the By The Pier remains at it undisputed best, with the venue hugged by the Arabian sea. The sea constantly reminding us of the expanding effect the adaptive genres of Tech & House music have on us, the venue was generously adorned with tastefully done additions from the first edition. The stage had been rotated to completely face the sea, preventing any noise leakage onto the main arterial roads. Also, unlike last time, this time the venue explored it’s third dimension with a huge shaded overhang over the stage and audience area. With soft colors and graphics being projected onto the canvas, it presented an interesting mood and ambiance to the venue while the artists were performing. Food & drink was neatly isolated from the main dancing area with a wide gathering space in the middle where friends and strangers met. Definitely one of the most adoring highlights of the event, the venue was as beautiful as the occasion it provided for.
The Vibe
Dance music is nothing without its people, and people came in aplenty. They showed their love and affection, while exploring the various facets of the venue. Food, drink and music, bought people of all mindsets together in an evening of celebration. And while we can go on about the love we saw, why don’t we let some of your best moments shine.
