Edward Christopher “Ed” Sheeran is a 24 year old English Ginger-head heartthrob, singer-songwriter: part troubadour, part rapper. (He’d call his own sound “acoustic soul.”) . When it comes to modern day pop star, due to his impeccably different adaptation of multiple styles, he is one artist that is on everyone’s minds. As an artist, his music is influenced by the likes of Eminem and a lot of Damien Rice. His dream collaboration would be with Stevie Wonder. The kid with the ginger hair and NHS specs recorded his first track in 2005, and moved to London in 2008 — staying on a succession of mates’ sofas and even sleeping rough on the Underground — to try to break into the music industry. In early 2011, Ed Sheeran released an independent EP, No. 5 Collaborations Project, which caught the attention of both Elton John and Jamie Foxx. He then signed to Asylum Records. His debut album, +, containing the singles “The A Team” and “Lego House“, was certified quintuple platinum in the UK. By 2012, he’d won two Brit Awards, and his second album, X , released in June 2014, charted at No 1 in the UK and U.S. X was also nominated for the Album of the Year in this year’s Grammy ( 57th Annual Grammy Awards ).
When he’s not recording his own songs, he’s writing for other people — most famously Taylor Swift, One Direction and Christina Aguilera. The song “Moments” on the debut album by boy band One Direction, released in November 2011, was co-written by Ed Sheeran. He’s already got an Ivor Novello award for songwriting. He draws the inspiration for most of his songs from either his own life, love or otherwise, or the experiences of the people close to him. At one point, he slept on the streets outside Buckingham Palace — inspiring his song ‘Homeless’.

His previous album X was a runaway success, with the singles ‘Sing‘, ‘Don’t‘ and ‘Thinking Out Loud‘ receiving critical and commercial success around the world. ‘Sing‘ became Sheeran’s first UK number-one single and also topped the charts in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. It also peaked at number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Ed Sheeran is no stranger to having his music featured on soundtracks. His track ‘All Of The Stars‘ was the lead single for the movie ‘The Fault In Our Stars‘, while he was approached by Peter Jackson, the director of ‘The Hobbit: Desolation Of The Smaug‘ to write a track for the film, which lead him to compose the track ‘I See Fire‘, which also received a remix from Kygo.
Sheeran is no stranger to collaborations and his most recent one with English electronic band Rudimental ‘Bloodstream‘ has garnered critical acclaim from fans and critics alike and upcoming collaborations with the likes of Martin Garrix, David Guetta and Skrillex also mark his foray into dance music
