Preview: ATTLAS – Sabs (Original Mix)

The last couple of months, unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve heard this name before. ATTLAS - the mystery producer, who has probably caused every producer out there to sit up and reconsider the music they’re making. With a musical style that is rooted in the fusion of acid, techno and house music, ATTLAS‘s portfolio is glistening with some sharp and tasteful productions already. Having given his services on Mau5trap last year, he/she returns to Mau5trap as part of their massive ‘We Are Friends: Volume 3′ compilation which features other stunning producers such as Eekkoo, Enzo Bennet, Fehrplay, Heat Maxwell, James Njie, Matt Lange, Neus, Pig & Dan, Proxy, Reid and more.

 

Speaking about his new production ‘Sabs‘, the track opens with a groany vocal sample easing in a delicate synth groove, that finds itself gradually submerged by a sinister acid bassline. The bassline – reminiscent of those early 90’s afterhour peak sessions – is wonderfully stitched together with a contemporary FX arrangement and sharp percussion work. The track enters a euphoric phase around the half way mark, as a-la-deadmau5 style synthpads create all sorts of sonic textures and transform the track momentarily before that devastating bassline drops down again.
