Whilst Deadmau5’s live shows have always been mesmerizing, it has been quite monotonous over the years. Donning the iconic mau5head, Joel stood atop a massive LED cube and dished out his records, accompanied with massive video game and cartoon-inspired visuals over gigantic LED screens. However, there’s news about a brand new stage set up to debut this summer, and we’re stoked to hear about it!
In a candid Reddit AMA with the promoters and producers of New York based festival Governors Ball, a user asked if Joel would be using his signature cube et al. The TeamGovBall simply responded with a “brand new show” would appear. Festival organizers also confirmed deadmau5 would close out the main stage on Saturday, June 6.
Deadmau5 will be headlining Governors Ball and Bonnaroo this summer, so it can be assumed that the new show will also make appearances at other festivals. Governors Ball will be held at Randall’s Island in New York City on June 5-7. Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will be held in Manchester, Tennessee on June 11-15.
