Moog To Re-manufacture Three Of Their Classic Modular Synthesizers

American manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, Moog Music under the holding of Bob Moog in 1964 changed the course of music forever with the introduction of world’s first modular voltage-controlled music synthesizer. For many following years or so, Moog manufactured some of the most historic modular synthesizers to date, inspiring everyone from Giorgio Moroder to Stevie Wonder in the ’70s and musicians like Deadmau5 and Hans Zimmer in more recent time.

Now, after 50 years of the instrument’s inception, Moog recently announced that they are bringing back three of their most popular modular synthesizers: the System 55, the System 35 and the Model 15. In an era when music production techniques have gone almost “in-the-box”, the act of bringing back the classic large format modular synths is tantamount with an analog-driven inclination amid producers in recent years.

To revel the declaration, Moog has released an 18-minute mini-documentary shot in their factory that details the history of the device and its impact on the music world. Grammy award winning producer and modular synthesizer expert Malcolm Cecil is importantly included in the video. “With the modular, you make your sounds different every day,” he says. An important phase of changing scenario highlighted by Malcolm is how the instrument fell out of popularity in the age of MIDI. The re-manufactured System 55, System 35 and Model 15 modular synthesizers will be available in exceedingly limited amounts. In-fact, less than 100 units of each instrument will be made, ranging from $10,000 to $35,000 each.
