Carl Cox Is The New Face of Native Instruments' Traktor S8

Known to be one of the most leading innovators in the digital DJ era, Native Instruments have unleashed their latest gizmo- the Traktor Kontrol S8, an upgrade from the previous Traktor S4. And who better to promote their latest piece of equipment than the legendary Carl Cox himself?

Cox has always been an eager proponent of Traktor, and he makes no secret of it in Native Instruments’ campaign, “The Future of DJing.” In the short promo video for the S8, Cox discusses his take on DJing. He says, “That’s what I grew up doing. I want to know what I can create outside of that box.”

Carl uses the S8 as a mixing console and hooks up two CDJs to the entire ensemble. Through this, Carl achieves his beloved four deck flexibility, and also helps open new doors for remix decks, an apparent favourite of Carl’s. To put it in his words, it’s the “best of both worlds”, combining old school CDJs with forward technology.

Carl says he cannot lay saturated. “I still want to be working,” he says. “I still want to be sweating, and riding the groove on the seat of my pants. That’s the thing that makes me who I am. I need to be challenged still.

We’re not entirely sure whether other DJs will warm up to incorporating the S8 in their setup but if it’s good enough for Carl, there isn’t much discussion to it, is there?
