Know Your Artists: John 00 Fleming & Dirty Vegas

We are now a day away from a historic new venture between India and the UK Music industries thanks to an initiative between UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) & Indian Dance Music premier brand Submerge. The forum will feature a rich crop of highly reputed individuals from the Music Industry from both cultures, and see them engage in discussion regarding topics such as Importance of the Digital Landscape, Homegrown Talents, Role of Artist Management Agencies among various other topics of discussion. Promising the creme-de-la-creme from both the musically diverse cultures, the unique forum will be followed up by an glittering Music Showcase. Headlined by two of the UK’s most prestiged names in the Dance Music Industry, John “00” Fleming & Dirty Vegas have shaped their respective genres for the better part of nearly two decades. Both the artists will also be speakers at the conference, before they begin their highly-anticipated The Exchange Music Showcase India Tour.

John 00 Fleming is an English trance producer and DJ from Worthing, West Sussex, who’s found much success over the course of his career. Having had releases with record labels such as Ministry of Sound, Deconstruction Records, Logic Records, and 3 Beat Music and performed at various clubs including Cream, Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound, and Godskitchen, he is best known to have formed the trance label – J00F Recordings. Having been involved with various sub-genres of Trance such as Progressive, Uplifting, Goa-trance & Psychedelic, its fair to say that Fleming has never pigeonholed himself into any set sound. While his productions come with the signature J00F sound, his hard work in the studio brings ample amount of creativity into anything he touches. After being proactive int the Trance scene through the 90’s & 00’s, Fleming got down to releasing two stunning albums, Nine Lives (2011) & One.Hundred.Ten WKO (2013). When he’s not producing, the highly esteemed producer is renowned for hosting his legendary Radio show Global Trance Grooves – that focuses on all sub-genres of Trance including Downtempo, Progressive, Breakbeat, Uplifting, Hard Style & Psychedelic. Fleming is particularly renowned to be a DJs DJ. He has a penchant for effortlessly fusing many distinctive styles of music in order to create a narrative that is sure to transport the listener into ethereal realms – and come this weekend, audiences at Mumbai, Pune & Bangalore are sure to find their shortest route to Euphoria!

Dirty Vegas are a decorated music duo from South London consisting of Steve Smith & Paul Harris. Initially accompanied by Ben Harris, the trio formed in 2001 before briefly disbanding in 2005 to focus on their individual projects. However, they reunited in 2008 and returned with their new album Electric Love in 2011. The band’s first ever single ‘Days Go By‘ in 2001 reached astronomical fame and appreciation, owing to Smith’s dreamy vocals and Ben & Paul’s fantastic production work. Many might recall the iconic Music video for the song, which still resounds in the psyche of every Dance Music aficionado. The track went gained wide exposure in the U.S. as the background music for a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse television commercial. The song went on to win the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording as well and catapulted the group into superstardom. With their eponymous debut album reaching the 1 million mark, they followed it up with a whirlwind world tour with Moby and Groove Armada, and went on to produce 2 more albums, and gain another no. 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart before having their music featured on major film and TV shows.
