We recently told you how Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 is coming out with a new album soon – featuring the best remixes of his tracks in the last five years – called ‘5 Years of Mau5‘. Building up the anticipation for that album release, Deadmau5 has gone ahead and revealed a brand new EP featuring three fantastic remixes from Fehrplay, Tujamo & Nom De Strip for his iconic track ‘The Reward is Cheese‘. While the highly-awaited double album is slated for a November 25th release, this EP is scheduled to come out on October 20th.
Fehrplay has been making serious airwaves in the last 12 months, thanks to his phenomenal production quality and he just emphasizes that with his remix here. Building on that aggressive acidic melody, he infuses a progressive chain that lifts the minimalistic tune to new heights.
Next up, Tujamo adds a certain electro house flavor into the track with his tribal funky overloops. Emphatic drumlines and bassleads transform this track into a peaktime festival anthem.
The final remix from Nom De Strip pulls out all the strings, as he volleys somewhere between the progressive sound of Fehrplay and electro feel of Tujamo,De Strip gives his own hard-line vision of the melody by chugging on it with a devastating acid synth. His remix is dark, delirious and shifts moods drastically in comparison with the earlier two, in effect completing the EP.
