The track from Grande‘s sophomore album My Everything, recently hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Chart. I’m still baffled at how this ‘super experimental’ track featuring Zedd outdid the likes of Calvin Harris’ Summer and Tiesto and Matthew Koma’s Wasted. With over 7.7 million streams in the US alone of which 64% are off Vevo/YouTube, I’d expect this track on the pop charts, but miracles have happened before. I suppose the 22 million+ views on YouTube speak for the appeal of this track.
The maiden chart position for both Zedd and Ariana, the track is at levels with Mr.Probz’ Waves on the Dance/ Mix Show Airplay Charts and Porter Robinson‘s Worlds on the Dance/Electronic Album Charts. Break Free sure turned to be a surprising summer hit!
