After some not so great collaborations across genres, we almost lost hope at the idea of a cross-genre production didn’t we? But here’s news that our favorite ginger, British acoustic genius Ed Sheeran will be collaborating with two of the biggest names of EDM – Skrillex and Martin Garrix on two separate tracks! While the idea of Sheeran coming together with two EDM staples is exciting, it does make us queasy, doesn’t it? What are we to expect from these upcoming collaborations from the wunderkind behind hit tracks such as A-Team, Sing and I See Fire? It’s much like two disparate pieces of a jigsaw puzzle coming together. Will they fit?
“The Skrillex collaboration is more new jack swing, but the Martin Garrix is my first step into the EDM world,” said Ed. “It’s not hardcore EDM; it’s chilled-out, mellow.
Is that reassuring? YES. The Kygo Remix of I See Fire did not disappoint us and we’re hoping for the same this time around. This expansion of the realm of music sounds promising as Skrillex’ power-packed melodies and Martin Garrix’ fresh sounds will amalgamate with Sheeran’s tasteful, soulful acoustics to give us a track rich in both energy and emotions. We can hardly wait for these tracks’ completion and find out if the trio meets our expectations!
