It was when I heard the preview of Koala that I knew that Oliver Heldens had something brilliant lined up for his fans. And I’m not disappointed! Although the Dutch artist Heldens hasn’t always been among the most popular DJs up until now, his recent track Gecko (Overdrive) garnered widespread attention from across the globe. And why shouldn’t it? He stays absolutely original with his pure melody and establishes himself as a unique style among the more commercialized state of EDM.
Koala’s aesthetic lies in its deep house simplicity and no fear of a wise use of piano synth. A definite earworm, it will have you tapping your feet on the subway, at work, at school, you name it! This track is sure to expand his fan-base with it’s easy-going rhythm and layering of a lingering melody. Heldens is aiming big and nothing will slow him down with great productions like Koala!
