next-app-220x392 Tinder’s co-founder Christopher Gulczynski has partnered with the app’s former vice president of design, Sarah Mick to create a new app dedicated to discovering new indie musicians/music.
The app, named Next, shares its fundamental design with Tinder and requires the user to swipe left if they don’t like the particular artist and right if they do. Artists can upload snippets of their music – anywhere from 10 seconds to 3 minutes, but the users can only access 30 seconds of the excerpts from the artist and then decide whether they like it or not.

Talking to TheNextWeb, Christopher Gulczynski said “We want to be the democratization of access to music. We’re coming from a place of real passion and wanting people to be heard. Being so close to Tinder, we liked the gamified feeling. The swiping mechanic is just a UI convention that we really like, but the core of it is everyone is given the same amount of attention.”
The app is currently only available for iPhone, but could be available for Android devices soon.
