Here’s another gem from in-house favourite Andrew Bayer’s set at #ABGT50. He always manages to find someway to stupefy us with each release, each being better, if not on-par, with his last.

He recently uploaded to Soundcloud, a preview of his track The District, which was aptly chosen as the Group Therapy Record Of The Week.

The track starts off with a hard hitting, dirty bassline, layered under a gritty glitch sample. As the track progresses you can hear the introduction to a complex yet classic Andrew Bayer stylized piano melody coupled with uplifting, almost dreamy synth arpeggios and a supremely heavenly angelic vocal sample at the back. This gorgeous melody gradually picks up, lifting you along with it, to lead to an extended build up that leaves you holding your breath for what comes next. The pitch modulation at the build up just adds that extra touch to send you peaking right before the track gives way to a breath-taking and extremely gratifying drop, followed by that gorgeous melody yet again.

This stellar production just goes to show that big room productions can also have that particular touch of sheer talented genius, that most other producers seemed to have lacked lately.

A full-on, hands-in-the-air, smiles-all-round track, that’s definitely going to find it’s way on to many sets this year. As Above & Beyond member & this weeks host, Tony McGuinness aptly puts it, his “constant stream of ‘forward thinking’ club music” fuels their own sets and those of many other “enlightened deejays”.
