DJ Snake, Zedd, and Avicii Among 2014 MTV VMA Nominees

The 2014 edition of MTV Video Music Awards is almost a month away and it is that time when viewers can start speculating about who will be winners, because the list of this year’s nominees is out now. To be held on Sunday, August 24th in California, MTV VMA, likely to popular belief, has sufficiently been invaded by EDM this year as well.

As expected music icons like Eminem and Beyonce lead the group with eight and seven nominations respectively.  From the EDM world, DJ Snake’s brilliant video for “Turn Down for What” proved to be quite significant, as it has been nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Direction and Best Visual Effects along with Disclosure’s “Grab Her.” Grammy front-runner Zedd’s “Stay the Night” video receives the Best Editing Award nomination and competing with these three in the MTV Clubland category (MTV’s ode to dance music) are Calvin Harris’ “Summer” and Martin Garrix’s “Animals”.

Further noteworthy VMA nominees include Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” for Best Pop, Gesaffelstein’s “Hate or Glory” for Best Cinematography, Avicii’s “Hey Brother” and David Guetta’s “One Voice” for Best Video with a Social Message.
