As the World’s greatest sporting spectacle draws towards a close this Sunday, citizens of either Germany or Argentina will be boasting of having won one of the finest FIFA Football World Cups of all time! With some very close games and shocking results, this World Cup has been all but predictable. But after all is said and done, two of the finest teams have reached the summit and will battle it out for the ultimate glory! Both teams are finely balanced with champions of the game, as we await with bated breath for the battles between players to unfold. Will it be Müeller’s perseverance or Messi’s brilliance? Will Ozil’s creativity wreak havoc or will Mascherano’s trusted defensive abilities do the job? Will Lahm’s leadership go tested against the engaging spirit of Higuain? Old and new – all kinds of engaging battles will be seen on the football pitch as the world’s champions will be stocked up together tonight!

Rest assured, the Germans and Argentinians are not just champions of the game, they’re presence in the dance music fraternity also comes unprecedented and undisputed. They have earned the honour of blessing us with the finest musical talents of our generation, as artists from both countries are true masters of their craft. So, as the two nations battle it out at the centre of the football pitch, we decided to take a trip down their musical terrain and put together a list of some the DJ battles we’d like to see between the two countries! Imagine, if you will, a DJ B2B set, or even a DJ face-off, as we combine DJs of like-minded genres from both countries! Legends vs. veterans, super-talents vs. sensations, kind of like the battles we’re about to see on the football pitch! So sit back, read on and imagine the mayhem that would follow if said DJ Battles actually ensued!

Paul Van Dyk (Germany) vs Chris Schweizer (Argentina)

When you think of dance music and how far it has come, the name Paul Van Dyk inevitably pops into your head. His energy, enthusiasm and fail-safe DJ sets are the pinnacle of any listener’s musical experiences! Having become a unique ambassador of the dance music community today, his undiminished charisma puts him in the league of the hall of fame (sounding like Miroslav Klose by any chance?!).

On the other side of this veteran, the exiting Prog-Trance-Electro genius Chris Schweizer! The Argentine is no longer a rookie in the game, conjuring up big release after another, as his penchant for combining traditional trance sounds with big room scales makes him one of the most unique DJs across the spectrum! Having come into the limelight through his eclectic mould of remixes and mashups, Chris has now become a spearhead in the Argentinian music scene.

We’d say this DJ battle would be explosive, as Chris’s surefire electro-trance infused sound could shatter any dancefloor in the world, but we’re more inclined to go for Van Dyk’s energetic and sometimes ultra-nostalgic sound terrain! Still, this faceoff could be simply awesome!

ATB (Germany)  vs Tomas Heredia (Argentina)

André Tanneberger will probably go down in history as the man who started it all with the immortal 9PM (Till I Come). A man who has created his own musical style and lead a generation of musical acts throughout his career, his innumerable releases, compilations and artist albums put him at the helm of deejaying as he rightfully ascertains the title of ‘Legend’!

Facing him is 20-year old Tomas Heredia – young, supertalented, creative, and bestowed with the phenomenal talent of adapting traditional trance roots for any audience! What Tomas lacks supremely in experience, he more than makes up for through his tantalising productions! Infusing traditional trance melodies and breaks into his song cores, he brings back a lost sound – perhaps one garnered by André himself, as he fuses energy with tradition absolutely effortlessly.

This is surely one unpredictable face-off as Tomas’s enigmatic presence on the decks could rival André‘s impeccable DJ mixes – one result we definitely cannot predict!

Zedd (Germany) vs HIIO (Argentina)

Few artists have experienced the meteorical rise that Zedd has (*ahem, ahem* Mario Gotze?!). The young superstar has had an incredible debut album, and an even more incredible year touring worldwide, with the ultimate prize of a Grammy! And he’s all but 24! With a humbling fan following across the globe, this German wunderkind has quickly ascertained himself as a driving force in the new-age dance music shift, as his alluring classical training and energetic big room sounds make him one of the strongest acts to watch out for in the coming years.

Opposing him are Argentine  DJ duo HIIO! Spearheading Argentina’s electro movement, Ortzy & Nico Hamuy dictate the Argentinian big room sound with consummate ease. Their big room soundscape is capable of putting the lights out of even the largest festivals in the world, as their ability to curate toe-crushing anthems comes with a satisfying consistency. While they don’t share the superstar fame that their German counterpart has, this dream duo have time and again confirmed their status as one of the world’s best acts when it comes to Big Room and Electro-House!

Moguai (Germany) vs Dero (Argentina)

Moguai has fully reaped the rewards of a hard-working ethos and highly honed production sound over the years. Having an album released on Mau5trap (the first non-Deadmau5 artist album release on the label), Moguai sounds have consistently impressed the dance music supreme, as his proclivity for excellence puts even the finest in progressive house to shame. With an incredibly fruitful and busy year, this German mastermind has curated anthem after anthem with such a consistent rate, that you’d feel he has a scientific formula for it!

With no shortage of creativity and musical vastness, meet his counterpart for this DJ battle, Dero. A veteran when it comes to dance music, the Argentine legend is perhaps the most well-traveled DJ below the equator! With residencies in North and South America, this shape-shifting legend has consciously been away from spotlight, as he lets his music do the talking (sounds like a certain Zabaleta, doesn’t he?!).

One DJ battle that could lead on late into the night, as both DJs have supreme promise to vary their sounds across genres for long periods of time. This would have been a classic!

Cosmic Gate (Germany) vs Heatbeat (Argentina)

So after a series of DJ battles, we figured that you’d like to see a DJ Tag Team round as well! Imagine the genre defining sounds of Cosmic Gate & Heatbeat going head to head! One on side, you have the legendary dream team from Germany – Cosmic Gate, who mirror the absolute rise of trance music, through their championed sound style and consistency for anthems. On the other hand you have Heatbeat, a no-nonsense, salsa-dipped, rich excursion of the finest South American electro sounds that you are likely to find! With both duos having impressive portfolios, radio airplays and anthems to their names, imagine the madness seeing this awesome foursome on stage all at once! For the love of Dance Music, someone needs to make this happen!

Tube & Berger (Germany) vs B.O.N.G (Argentina)

The Germans certainly know their tech side of music. Largely credited for creating the sound style that has engaged a generation of musical fanatics from around the world, the German emotive soundscape is spearheaded by none other than magical tag-team Tube & Berger. Their delightful progressive sounds fused with Berlin-esque deep bass feel gives their music an ability to heal weary hearts. Producing only pure genius, their presence behind the decks as seasoned champions puts them at par with industry gems and stalwarts – an accolade that they rightfully deserve.

Challenging them is Argentine emotive champion B.O.N.G. Juan Carlos Villalba took up the alias (Believe On Next Generations) after he quickly realized the futuristic edge of his musical sphere way back in 2003. Producing some of the most emotive and uplifting melodies to come out of Latin America, this veteran has a remarkably well-placed portfolio of acoustic gems!

So, imagine this DJ battle, a designated deep house tech side through the Germans and an uplifting sound terrain from the Argentine – how magical could the night become?!

So there it was! A dream list of DJ Battles that we’d love to see! Of course, we’d expect each battle to end up in hugs and kisses, just like in sport! That is perhaps the magic of the two, sports and music. They both make experiences intimate, personal, and euphoric, but at the end of the day, you go home awaiting the next time that you’re going to be part of a larger than life spectacle! May the best team win!
