N9NEFEST ft Dada Life - Friday, September 13, 2013

You think you know everything about Dada Life? Think again. It’s time to break down everything about them and move beyond the music to truly discover Dada.

1. Whats with the bananas and champagne?

In a reddit AMA recently done, Olle set the record straight by saying that champagne is the ultimate alcoholic beverage, and the bananas contain the essentials for the energy to keep them going all night. Scientifically speaking, bananas have three natural sugars; sucrose, fructose and glucose-combined with a fiber, so therefore, a banana gives an instant and sustained boost of energy. Have enough of these and dancing all night won’t be a problem!

2.What if there aren’t Champagne & Bananas?

When Champagne and Bananas aren’t provided, Dada Life performs a deep house set, all under 118 BPM. This has happened only one time, and the Swedish men started their set off with a softie, and only reverted to one of their raging tunes when the promoter came running with the most important items on their rider.

3. Who inspires the Dada?

The artists that have inspired them the most include Nirvana, The Prodigy,  Little Richard, Stockhausen, and some of their other inspirations include random kick drums. The eclectic choices are evident in their live shows, when the feel isn’t just electronic, but infused with some rock as well. Jack of all trades, and master of all too!

4. Arrest the Dada!

They once got arrested at the Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, Sweden. Maybe the cops thought the bananas they were carrying were guns, maybe they just wanted their autographs, or maybe they listed Dada Land as their country of origin. While the reasons are unclear, here’s a video of it happening right after a girl gets their autographs.

5. They’ve created a plugin to help you attain the same greasy sound they’re famous for, and it’s appropriately named the Sausage Fattener.

“The Sausage Fattener only has two knobs. But don’t be fooled. With those seemingly simple parameters you can create loads of different sounds. Use the Sausage Fattener on a single channel with moderate settings as a musical compressor. Turn it up and you have a dirty bastard of distortion. But you can also use the plugin on a bus (for example all the drums and the bass) or the whole track as a mastering plugin.

The Sausage Fattener is used by Tiësto, Kaskade, Diplo, Laidback Luke, Chuckie, Sebastian Ingrosso, Dirty South, Hardwell, Angger Dimas, Frank E, Zedd, Lazy Rich, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Marcus Schossow, John Dahlbäck and many other DJ/producers.”
