They come into your feet when you jump at night, they come into your hands when you wanna fight, they come into your legs when you wanna run, they come into your smile when you want some fun. You guessed it! We’re talking about none other than the outrageously awesome DJ duo, Dada Life! Protectors of the realm of Dada that bears a mighty sigil of bananas and Champagne, the Stockholm-based DJs/producers Stefan Engblom and Olle Corneér have only one goal to achieve- make the whole world get down to their tunes. Stefan and Olle combined their forces and individual music making skills in 2006 for the first time to form ‘Dada Life’, a name that could have been inspired by the European Avant garde ‘Dada’ movement. The two started producing unconventional pop-leaning electro tunes with obscure titles like “Your Favourite Flu” & “Have Triangle Everyday” and a zealous attitude that only screamed out “party!”

It didn’t take long for them to be noticed by the big guns of the EDM world and had the gig life calling out their names. This, therefore marked the beginning of a crazy ride full of bananas, champagnes, a few riots and a pillow fight world record!

The duo made their mark in many ways around the world, be it earning the #34 spot on the DJ Mag Top 100 list or breaking the Guinness World Record a while back, for the world’s largest pillow fight at a ‘Dada Land Compound’ event in Chicago. This year is turning out to be a winner for the duo as well as their hit single “Born To Rage” which received a vocal rendition by the heavy metal band Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, is ruling the charts around the globe. Added to this is the plethora of gigs lined up ahead under their name, one of which is in India this month!

Through 2010, the duo’s DJing career skyrocketed to another level and they hit a major mile stone in 2011 as they made it to the headlines of the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas where they unleashed insanity by augmenting their set with a live marching band as they dropped the hit “Kick Out the Epic Motherf*cker“! The year also saw the revelation of their new logo, two bananas forming a crest around a champagne bottle, debuted on the artwork of their single “White Noise/Red Meat”.

Dada Life “What’s up with the whole ‘bananas and the champagne’ thing going on there” you may ask? Well, this is what Dada Life had to say:

“Taste-wise, they are actually terrible together. It came from us needing energy when we’re DJing. We always had them on the rider — bananas for potassium to keep us going, and champagne for keeping your head bubbly. It’s the perfect combination. You can’t have an apple in a club — it’ll get slippery and gross — but a banana is perfect because you open it up and it’s all fresh inside. It’s impossible to eat a sandwich in a club because it would get so dirty. Clubs are the grimiest places on earth.”

As Dada Life plans to invade India with their lethal energy this month, it’s only the best decision to give in to the Dada. To put it in their own words, “Get ready to arrive beautiful and leave ugly”. Click this link for more details about the tour.
