President Obama pays respects to friends and family of Frankie Knuckles.

Earlier this month, we were shocked and grieved to hear about the passing of the Godfather of House Music and one of the best things to come out of Chicago- Frankie Knuckles. Whilst most of the dance music world paid their due respects to this acclaimed legend, it seems a couple of people from outside our world of dance music also saw fit to pay their respects.

Paying homage to the Bronx legend, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama sent a typed and signed letter addressed to “Family and Friends of Frankie Knuckles”. This letter from the White House, was postmarked April 17th, and contained personal signatures of the most powerful couple themselves.  A few excerpts that touched us were, “Frankie’s work helped open minds and bring people together, blending genres to capture our attention and ignite our imaginations. He was a trailblazer in his field, and his legacy lives on in the city of Chicago and on dance floors across the globe.” The entire letter can be read below.
