Coachella will always be special for the Daft Punk. One may recall how the world was treated to the first ever sights and sounds of their anthemic ‘Get Lucky‘ last year. The track helped ignite the resurfacing of the Robots after years of hiatus from the general music scene. One would imagine, we would see more of the duo since, especially in the 2014 edition of Coachella; however that was not to be. But trust Indie Rock luminaries Arcade Fire to do the impossible, as they pulled off one of the most talked about pranks engaging our social media counters since the last few days!

Ending the event in the California desert for its second and final weekend, Frontman Win Butler announced that “some very special guests and we’re just going to bring them up up front”, and out come a duo who looked like Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo right from their Grammy’s attire! The duo performed on an extremely-slowed down version of the magnanimous hit ‘Get Lucky‘ only to have Butler refer to the onstage duo as ‘Phat Dunk‘! While some Coachella attendees may have beleived that the French pioneers were indeed in their presence, all evidence pointed otherwise, as the height difference of the artists was evident, besides the fact that neither were even touching the mixer decks! Besides this hilarious troll, Arcade Fire were also able to pull off bringing Blondie‘s Debbie Harry for a cover of “Heart of Glass,” getting New Orleans’ Preservation Hall Jazz Band for a Dixieland-style finale, and dressing Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul as the Pope!
