Electronic music Pioneer Joel Zimmerman, better known to one and all through his stage moniker Deadmau5, certainly knows how to brighten one’s afternoon! His always anticipated Coffee Run series presents him in an informal avatar with our favorite DJ’s and other celebrities, as he drives around giving passerby’s a brief moment of exasperation – meanwhile continuing to be his usual-form-of-entertaining on camera, while conducting the impromptu discussions. This time around, the passenger hot seat featured none other than Swedish mastermind and highly respected and adored Electronica wizard Eric Prydz. Filmed around the corner of their magical ‘Pryda vs. Mau5trap‘ venture, the two mammoth producers sat down to have a chat about their beginnings, their elaborate stage setups and Dance Music in India!

They start their coffee run with Deadmau5 quizing Prydz on his flight itinerary from Australia before they moved on to the topic of the cancellation of the Future Music Festival Asia in Kuala Lumpur. They move on to discussing their onstage collaboration as Prydz acknowledged the fact that, there wasn’t much preparation that the two did between them and that the performance would be genuinely extemporaneous. They also discussed their early beginnings as Prydz confessed that he dropped out of high school to tailor and sell Graduation robes, whereas Joel confessed his first job included him working at a cannery!

Deadmau5 then began to explain his affair with the Amiga 500 before Prydz began giving technical specs on how he would create music using the same. Prydz then inquired about Deadmau5′s recent visit to India, to which Deadmau5′s reaction was a gratified expression of amazement! He even went onto suggest Prydz MUST visit the country! Prydz observed that a huge amount of traffic on social media is from India as well, as Deadmau5 explained the market for Dance music in India and insisted that it was a “re-emerging” one. They also spoke about other artists who comprised of the MMW, and both expressed their appreciation for Pig & Dan & Nic Fanciulli. Eric Prydz then delves into details about his HOLO stage and proceeds to describe it to a curious Deadmau5. He confessed on using his entire fee plus ‘hundreds of thousands of dollars’ on it and that he was losing all his money on it! Deadmau5 on the other hand, began to delve details about his upcoming album and how it won’t be a conventional Dance Compilation album.

Besides all the camaraderie between the two, the video had on numerous occasions passersby exclaiming “THAT DEADMAU5!” making Joel’s expressions priceless more than often! At some point in the video, Deadmau5 insisted that Prydz was the fourth DJ he was on a coffee run with, and if you ever want to do a coffee run with a DJ, Miami is the place to do it! So without further ado, here’s their coffee run below!
