It was way back in November 2013 that American electronic music pioneer, Dillon Francis announced the release date of his debut album. It seemed everything was running smoothly and the date was set somewhere in May this year. However, owing to album strategy presumably by the artist management, the date on his highly anticipated ‘Mad Decent‘ has been pushed a little over two months, till July.
Here’s what Dillon had to say about the news:
My album isn’t going to come out in May because of the album strategy that we have, so now it’s been pushed back ’til July, which is kind of a bummer. It’s all like these weird semantics of labels that they have to have this release structure – which I understand now, but at the beginning I didn’t. I’m kind of bummed, but I get it.
While the news comes as slightly unsettling for his fans, they may find much respite in the news that Dillon has stated he has some new singles that will be released prior to the LP. Known to be pioneering and exploring uncharted paths such as moombathon and moombahcore through his album works, the releases of these tracks could turn out to be a well executed plan by the end of it all, benefiting both the artist as well as the music genre.
