Avicii wins ‘Favorite EDM Artist’ at the American Music Awards 2013

One of the most talked about award at this years American Music Awards or AMA‘s was the one for ‘Favorite Artist – Electronic Dance Music’. This year heavyweights of the likes of Zedd, Avicii, Calvin Harris and Daft Punk were nominated and Avicii came out as the winner. Contrary to the Grammys the show decide its winners based on votes from members of the ‘Recording Academy’, picked the winner based off a public poll and music buyers.

Additionally, Avicii aka Tim Bergling has had quite the year. He was nominated for a Grammy for his hit ‘Levels’, earned the #3 spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs, had his track “Wake Me Up” top a number of music charts and won his first award for, “Best Electronic Artist”, at the MTV EMA’s.

Interestingly, last year was the first when the AMA’s had a category for EDM, and David Guetta had taken home the honours. It could now be safe to say that after the kind of year electronic music has had this year, it can only be assumed that 2014 will have a few more categories featuring this popular genre.

In any case, we would like to congratulate Avicii on his achievement which comes as yet another noteworthy landmark in his already illustrious career and look forward to a lot more music to come from the phenomenally talented Swede!
